(((Definately not for wounded Burma!!!))))

In many countries, young people have to serve in militaries for several years. Nowadays, in our home country, the new government planning to practise a compulsory Military Service for young generation. In that case we need to consider whether compulsory military services is benifit or not for everyone.

In general, this policy is good for individuals however it is not suitable for all nations and people.

Military is the place where young people eat together, train together, share hostel together and learn together. Youths can earn huge knowledge of how to behave and how to work as a team after successfully accomplished military trainings. Moreover, after leaving military trainings, most of the soldiers will have built up brotherly relationship.

Advantages are

-mentally more mature

-physically stronger

-get the ability to control emotion.

Therefore soldiers will have more self confident to deal with difficulties in their life and will be treasures in memories about the experience in the trainings.

But the policy is not suitable for all countries for instance my country (Burma) we have more than enough military forces for 55millions of population. I don’t really think it is a good policy for Burma. Burma needs to rebuild all system especially Health & Education. Can you imagine how much money did Burmese government spend for health? I bet it is not more than £2 per year for each people. I would not even cover immunization vaccine.

Let's think about reality and forget about politics. Do we really need to reinforce military? Some other countries need to reinforce their military because their enemies tend to be their neighbours for instance Israel. They have to defend their small land because neighbours are attacking their mother land. Look at our country, neighbours like China adores us as far as we let them do their business. Thailand, their economy is totally depending on our resources. They got cheap labours and raw materials from our country. Even India, they won’t even think to attack us. So what is the point to recruit more soldiers? We have more than enough soldiers to defend our mother land.

Our country is built by various ethnic groups. We are the same, we all represent our country, and we should have the same rights and chances for every States and Divisions. Nowadays, we kill each other rather than love each other. I read on the news everyday about my country. Every time, I wish not to see causalities, homelessness, starvation, poverty and mild nutrition. I wish our people are not suffering from civil wars. When will the fighting be over? Why military forces and ethnic armies kept fighting rather than building up good relationship?

Well, I personally think that military service is very effective for all young generation, but we should seriously consider the needs of our country and individuals therefore I want to say this policy is not suitable to adopt for Burma.

Definately not for Burma!!!!!

01.01.11 To a little sun shine

Dear little sun shine,

Now you have become a little young man, you will soon become an adult and also a young gentleman . I just want to wish this year 2011 is a very good year for you. Remember, today is a kind of a strange day 1.1.11. I do not have any superstitious concepts or ideas, however I just want to say a few words to you.

Never feel bad if some other people critize you. In some situations, you may need to walk away in order to avoid the problem despite being challenged. In that situation, some other people will criticize you as a COWARD. You know you are not, therefore remember my advice is just to ignore and !!! walk away!!!!.
Be strong and be confident.
Be calm and be consistent.
Be assertive and be diplomatic.

I always remember a lyric from a song(**** Gentleman will walk out ----- never run****)

RESPONSIBILITY & RESPECT.
You might probably have a question about what is it like being an adult? From my own point of view, "Adult" means taking responsibility for his or her own actions. You need to say the right thing at the right time, on the other hand you need to do (act), the right thing at the right time.

RESPECT, you need to be respectful to others. It doesn't mean one way respect, there should be mutual respect in communication. I am sure it will be an honour to be called a "Gentleman", which means a person who is respectful, kind, understanding, loyal, righteous, well- mannered and professional.

That is all I want to say to you on this New Year's day. Anyway, it might probably help you to know what is it like being adult and what is it like being a gentleman.

With best wishes,

Friday, 1 October 2010

I had a hair salon nightmare when I last visited to a local salon in Manchester in Jan 2009. A hair dresser cut my hair really short instead of teasing the end. I was in shock it did not look like the style I discussed with her before hair cut. I was close to tear, it was traumatic and horrific. I had been to that shop every week for a wash and blow dry. Actually she was rushing to go out after a phone call from her mates. She used her mobile phone quite often while cutting my hair. I will not ever be going back there again. After that experience, I will think twice before I visit any salons.

I always chop the end of my hair once in every three months, I had never gone to any professional hair salon before, when I noticed my flat mate’s hair style I asked her she said she had her hair cut and styled in Toni & Guy. I researched a lot about it on the internet.

It is a uni sex salon which is the most popular hair salon in the UK and in other countries. I tried in Toni & Guy last year. They have their own brand of hair products with reasonable prices. The first salon of Toni & Guy opened in 1963. Almost all big towns and cities in the UK have their salons.

Toni & Guy is a professional and trendy salon in which has different levels of stylists. They have a great team of people which consists of talented young stylists and experience hairdressers. The sinks were comfortable and cosy, the shampoo smelt nice. I was offered a drink from the staff, which was really nice. The staff are very professional, friendly and welcoming. It is on the high street therefore very handy for shoppers. Moreover they give 10% discount to full time student and 30% discount to the children under the age of 12, those offers are available on Monday to Friday.

I would like to open my own salon in the near future. I will chose a good location and luxurious salon furniture. Price is also important to the success of the business. The image ,reputation, special offers and good services are attractive to all customers. Moreover customer recommendation is very important. Need to keep regular customer in order to grow business

THE LADY OF GOLDEN LAND

Today, I am going to write about a lady of our nation. Have you ever thought of about who you admire? Well, I certainly have. Aung San Suu Kyi (here in after Suu), one of the person I admire most, she was born in 1945 in Burma. Her father, General Aung San, who was our independence leader was assassinated in 1947. Therefore she was raised by her mother who was appointed as an Ambassador in Nepal and India. She gained a Ph.D at the School of Oriental and African Studies from the University of London in 1985.

Suu became famous in 1988 when she came back to care for her dying mom. There was a big anti - government protest all over Burma against Ne Win's government. Suu developed the NLD (National League for Democracy) party in 1988 and it won the election in 1990. Burmese people admire her not only as a daughter of our national hero but also for her courage. She has two sons with Dr. Michael Aris in the UK. Her popularity is a thread to the ruling government therefore the juntas put her under house arrest. She has been prevented seeing everyone however she never gives up. She was awarded the Nobel Price in 1991. Her husband passed away in 1999. The poor man did not get a chance to see his wife due to a visa rejection from military juntas in Burma.

Well, I admire her as an intelligent politician and also as an excellent writer. She delivered a thousand speeches and books about human rights and democracy. Although she has been under house arrest for more than two decades, I am sure she will never give up for her mother land . There is a lot of information on the World Wide Web about her. Moreover people can find information form the book names "Fearless from Voice of Burma" written by Whitney Steward. 19th June is her birthday, I am sure Burmese people will never forget her birthday and always appreciate her courage and guidance. Happy Birth Day to you, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi (The lady of Golden Land)!!!!

DEPRESSION

Before I started my High School, I hated myself very much. My family brought me up very well and wanted me to get award every year and my sisters are so smart and so excellent in exams. They were on the top level in every year and awarded by School that made my parent proud and that make a lot of pressure for me. I wanted to be liked my sisters, I only wanted to see my parent's happiness.

When I started 9Th Standard, I have very few friends. I was so ugly, so skinny and dark. I don’t’ understand why I look so ugly and kept thinking that why only me got this appearance. Life is totally not fair. My hair is curly, my eyes are so sleepy. and I was god damn skinny like a stick. In education, even though I don’t want to let my family down, I did not qualify to go to Institutes. So I ended up in Yangon Art and Science University.

Living in abroad without job is often triggered by stress and loneliness. Most of us become depressed for the first time in their lives, so they don't immediately recognize it as depression. As you left home country you do need to adopt some changes, for instance, cultural adjustment, weather and food and etcetera. Apart from that we have freedom which we never get it in our home land.

I have found myself depressed several times. I have been waiting to achieve my goal for several years and this has made me angry with myself for not completing it sooner. Destitution also caused my depression. I have friends who have settled, employed and helped to relatives, this makes me sick and given up. So far, I can neither help other nor myself. I feel so guilty, even though I know people need my help. I am struggling to survive myself.

At the time being, I don’t want to go to college to study. I am waiting a letter which will come through the door. I have been depressing for ages ago. How do I overcome this feeling? Two weeks ago, I spent some money to treat myself, I cut my hair, I ate good food, I brought flowers, I bought scandals for summer and I bought some cotton tops without looking back my budget. I buy some cooking utensil and I took taxi to go home for a couple of time because I cannot remember how to go back to my new accommodation. Finally I ended up destitute for the following weeks. And I feel regret for being selfish.

In fact, I don't isolate myself, I tried to regularly see my friends and wrote some blogs which I interested in. I scheduled some fun activities into my calendar. Despite focusing on my depression, I try to focus on practising and saving strength into studying. But in reality, I cannot focus what I am doing. I hate myself, and I hate all human being. I am so depressed. I don’t want help from people. I am not fit in the society because I forget quite often even though I tried very hard. I have a plan to go to Liverpool as an extra curricula activity from College. You know what! even though I paid for the coach, I don't want to go. I felt like I am stuck at the middle of the nightmare.
I hate my ability, I hate my life and I hate my mentality.I haven’t learned to keep a balance in my life and I never tried to learn it. Anyway, I hate myself for being weak.

If you don't know how to fix the country, please don't break it

ဘေကာင္း ေရးသားသည္
bakaung.blogspot.com

Open your mind, face the reality and see what you have done now compare with the status from 40 years ago. Are you saying that you are doing for the sake of people? No. you are not. You are only building the destructed mechanism for my country. You are blinded with the glistering light of dimonds that you are stealing from your own people. You might thought that you are making good fortunes and reputations for your next generation with those dimonds, money and power that you have, but you are wrong. You are literally wrong. You are supposed to be like a father to look after your people because you are the leader of million of people but you just turned your face away. What's it in your mind? What are you thinking?

Images from aljazeera.net

When I was young and old enough to understand the love and affection between mother and child, I saw a cow looking for her young calf with full of tears in her eyes. The calf might have somehow lost his way back home, and so mother cow went out and calling out for her child at every corner of the streets. She finally made sure that her child was safe and happy under her protection. At least, she felt something and has affection for her own child.

So, how is yours? Can you protect us? Can you make your people to be proud of being the citizen of Myanmar? My country is suffering. My people are dying with povety. I know you are such a stubborn or afraid one to face the true reality. What make you think that you can do better than others? You can't even approved your capabilities to build up the better country during past 20 years except increasing number of homeless, poverty, prostitutions, jobless, lower income rate, higher living costs. If you are afraid, tell me what you are afraid of. Are you afraid that the other people might say the true factors, and they will tell you that the things you are doing are wrong? Are you afraid that the people of Myanmar will get educated and bring the authetic visions for the bright future of the country? Do you know that the majority of your people are living in the dark world where there are no foods, no proper education, no shelters, and they are suffering? I will tell you what I am afraid of. I am afriad that my country will never able to stand up again as before because of what you had done, but I put my faith in my people for the good changes. I am sure they truly will.

Please don't tell me that our country is declining because of people. Please don't project us. We are your people. We are just ordinary citizens living within your military framework. I don't say the term "military" is evil thing, but just that you are not providing us the basic human needs. Please take your full responsibilities, otherwise let someone else take it.

Do you think this is going to last forever? Do you think you can shut down the gate of truth and reality with your military might? I don't think so. Did you ever ask yourself just like a child without having smeared influences why there are so many poverties in your country, and your people are dying in hungers and diseases while your families are celebrating birthday parties. Why? Why? Why? You are the leader of the country. Did you ever try to find a solution for those thousand of people who are dying under your dictatorship? What can you do for my country? If you can not do, what can I do for my country? What other people can do for the country? Do you need help? If you need help, just ask. It is just pretty simple. You need to accept the fact that you can not build the country alone. You also aware that Aung San Suu Kyi and other brilliant political leaders can help and lead the country. I don't understand why you don't incorporate with them. You are either too stubborn or just a dumb leader.

I don't think you are doing a good job for the country. More than 40 millions people are living in the country but as long as all those 40 millions people are not well educated, I wouldn't say you are creating the proper education system for the country. If someone say, "hey! my children are going to school and they are learning computer at home". Of course, you idiot!, you can effort to send your children to good school, but what about the other millions of people who can't even make enough incomes to provide the daily foods for their family. I am not talking about your little cheesy world. I am talking about my people. my Myanmar people. for Everyone. the whole country. Don't say our education system is not so bad. You haven't seen the world. You haven't seen the superior education system which would train the children to become managers, leaders, businessmen and they will be on top of everyone. I want my child to become a manager, to become a leader. I don't want my child to work like a slave in other counties. What can you do for that?

I am a citizen of Myanmar, but I am not proud of myself for being a citizen of Myanmar. Evertime I travel to other countries, I have more difficulties than other nationalities. Do you know why? People thought that the people of Myanmar are inferior. That's the nature of human. I have to try so hard and struggle more than others to get better impression for being a Myanmar. Why can't Myanmar people instantly be well recognized for the good courses? Can you make the people of Myanmar to be superior? I honestly want to be proud of my country. I long the time when Myanmar used to be on top of other Asia countries, but you destroyed the reputations. Don't you feel ashamed of yourself when the world is watching you as a brutal and evil one.

I took a taxi the other day in an event that it was drizzling and I was also late for my work. After having a long silent ride in the cab, me and taxi driver started to strike a conversation. What amused me the most was that everytime I tell my identity for being a Myanmar nationality in my english accent, everybody got stunned. After explaining who I am and what I do for living in a diplomatic way, the taxi driver proudly revealed the secret he had done in Myanmar 30 years ago. I am even more stunned when he told me what he did in Myanmar during those socialist days in Myanmar. He was a business man and sold watches in Yangon. He did illegal watch trafficking in Myanmar. He was able to buy lands and houses in Singapore because of his business. Since Myanmar was under socialist government, it was illegal to import and sell watches in Myanmar as private own. He said if he pay a box of whisky bottles, he could easily pass through the custom and immigration counters at the Yangon airport. Airport authorities even let him sleep with the girls they detained from illegal trafficking business. Most of the girls were about 13 or 14 years old. He is a Singaporean and the girls he raped were Myanmar but helped by Myanmar authorities. What was going on? Who is going to protect us if Myanmar government can not protect our nationalities? Where is the law? Is the law literally exist in Myanmar just not to send the people into jail for saying what they believe, but for the protection of every Myanmar citizens?

Sometime, I truly wish there will be a internal corruption inside your military framework in order to break down the structure, and so somebody could take control over the existing military power and reform the whole country. A lot of people tremendouly sacrificed their lives, their families, their properties, their love ones while doing what they believe to get better living standard for the people of Myanmar. They believe democracy is the only way out for the country. I believe it too. Since your military system didn't work for the country, you have to accept or compromise the dialogue with the other political parties.

It is really funny to see you are fooling around UN, ASEAN and other countries. How long has it been since we had our genuine election? Wow..it's been almost 20 years now. How could that happen? Well.. obviously UN is weak, international pressure is weak, ASEAN is weak, but our people get killed occasionally one by one, group by group. Military regime made up every possible tricks, they cheated, they tell lies. It comes to the realization that only the people of Myanmar can change the future of Myanmar.

Ba Kaung

BLOG BLOG BLOG

I have been publishing in Google blogs since I get a chance to use internet. I would like to say why I write the blog, why people should write blogs.

Even if nobody reads it, you should keep writing it. From my point of view, blogging is a source of information for me and the only way to communicate with my silent world. I questioned to some friend about blogging, they answer as follow;

(a) reluctant to write,
(b) some are busy
(c) Afraid to put their true thoughts on public record.
(d) Nobody will read it.

I have a lot of draft post which I am not going to publish in the web. For me blogging is same as confessing to a close friend. Don’t worry about reader satisfaction; I do worry about publishing some post. Because I worry about how will reader think about my post? I do have fear for consequences. However, I just want to say people whoever want to start blogging. Don’t be afraid to put your idea and information in blog. There are a lot of people who would like to tell the world. It will very helpful, if you can represent them by blogging , bring information on their behalf,

UK this week

The new government has been selected by UK citizens last Wednesday. The conservative party won the election. The new Prime Minister name is David Cameron. He is 43 years old. As a Prime Minister, he has to choose his cabinet. The word "CABINET" can mean a cupboard however in politics term, cabinets is a group of advisers which consists of 12 people of the members he chooses. It is reported that he hasn't chosen many women so far whereas Tony Blair had 101 women in his government. Back in (1979 - 1990), Margret Thatcher was the first lady Prime Minister in the British political system. However there were no other women in her cabinet.

CELEBRITIES & THEIR PRIVATE LIVES

Before I writing this article, I asked myself "Am I interested in famous people?". The answer is "Yes". I am interested in celebrities all over the world, these includes politicians, scientists, notorious world leaders, business entrepreneurs, models, actors and actresses etcetera. Nowadays, I am obsessed with the television. I tend to check the news about celebrities without taking too seriously.

I personally think that the British media presents various news issues about famous people rather than politics, international news, documentaries and the weather. I believe that they tend to focus too much on untrue stories in order to attract public interest.

Next question is "Do they deserve to have a private life?". Nowadays most celebrities have no private lives because the media follows them wherever they are. However, some celebrities choose to have that kind of life. Some celebrities deliberately attempt to get their popularity in terms of selling their story for instance; divorce battles, relationships, gossip columns, income etcetera. I loathe the way the media presents celebrities personal lives whereas I respect some celebrities. As human beings, they all need and deserve to be respected. I assume that this is the dark side of the freedom of the press.

As I indicated in the above paragraphs, the public views celebrities as role models. Therefore the government should exercise more control over the media in order to control any bad behaviour of celebrities in the press, radio and television channels.
